How I calculate “enough”
Saving only has one function: to prepare for a future expense, planned or unplanned.
The simple fact is that the cost associated with your area’s standard of living incorporates things you have no control over: the value of your home, price of labor, cost of food, cost of utilities, etc.
I can’t value myself the same as those around me and then go around showing off with various status symbols like a big house, fancy car, or expensive clothes.
We have to know how to love ourself (define how we want to live) to know what to work for in the lives of others.
“Is he a man of God or a man of gold?”
It’s ok to have nice things. Just make sure you understand the cost. Warning: you may accidentally learn some math while reading this.
